DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL MEDICINE

           ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

           Basic Technician Certificate in Clinical Medicine (NTA Level 4)

Admission to the program will be open to candidates who have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE). Direct entrants to an Ordinary Diploma Course (Clinical Officer) must have a minimum of ‘C’ credits in Biology and Chemistry, and a ‘D’ pass in Physics, English and Mathematics.

 

Students joining certificate course (Clinical Assistant) must have a minimum of ‘D’ pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Mathematics

 

           Certificate in Clinical Medicine (NTA Level 5)

Admission to this NTA level 5 will be open to candidates who have a Basic Technician Certificate in Clinical Medicine (NTA Level 4) from recognized institutions. Students who were admitted into Basic Technical Certificate in Clinical Medicine NTA Level 4 and have passed their examinations in the same institution will be qualifying to enter in Basic Technical Certificate in Clinical Medicine NTA Level 5.

            Diploma in Clinical Medicine (NTA Level 6)

Admission to the programme of  Diploma in Clinical Medicine will be open to both pre and in-service candidates.

Ø  Pre service candidates are those candidates who have at least a PASS in NTA level 4 and 5 but did not exit at NTA level 5. This category will be admitted for NTA level 6 automatically.

Ø  In-service candidates are the candidates who have at least a PASS in NTA level 4 and 5 but also had an exit at NTA level 5. This category will be required to have a minimum of three years working experience AND must have a score of not less than 50% obtained from single sitting of most recent MHCDGEC/NACTE entrance examination.

         DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES

     ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

Basic Technical Certificate  in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 4

Admission to Basic Technical Certificate course in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 4 programme; a student must have Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with minimum pass of D in the following subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English.

 Certificate  in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 5

Admission to Basic Technical Certificate course in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 5 programme is open to candicates who have successfully completed NTA Level 4 in Medical Laboratory Science.

            Diploma Course in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 6

Direct qualifications

A candidate with a semester II GPA of 3.0 or above in Medical Laboratory NTA Level 5 is eligible for admission.

OR

In-service applicant with a GPA of 2.0 or above in NTA Level 5 with minimum of two years working experience and registered to the health laboratory practitioners’ council and has successfully passed the entry examination

OR

Applicant who completed Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences under Knowledge Based Education Training (KBET) curriculum and has successfully passed the bridging course examination with GPA of 2.0 and above and registered to the health laboratory practitioners’ council.

Basic Technician  Certificate in Community Health

This is a recently introduced course by NACTE and MHCDGEC with the purpose and commitment of the government of Tanzania to improve access to quality health and social welfare services.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements to the Basic Technician Certificate programme shall be possession of at least four (4) O-level passes including biology at D or above.

An applicant with form IV or VI qualifications and had received informal training in Community Health Workers, Para Social Workers, and Medical Attendant recognized programmes; and practiced in the respective area. Admission of such applicant into the programme will follow guidelines and procedures for Recognition of Prior Learning prescribed by NACTE.
